About 96 percent of people who enter prison return to Missouri cities and towns.

By Missouri law, a person must be 17 years of age or certified as an adult by the courts.

The Division of Adult Institutions manages the state’s adult correctional centers. Each adult institution operates like a small city whose residents work in jobs, go to school, eat meals together in dining halls and access treatment for medical or behavioral-health issues.
